Orcas Island is the right size with just what you need without much excess. For the goods you need, we have year-round grocery stores, restaurants, gas stations, hardware stores, clothing stores, Post Offices, and liquor stores. And not to worry... there's no shortage of coffee shops on the island.
All manner of professional services, such as carpentry, construction, painting, excavating, landscaping and more, are all here. If you're the "do-it-yourself" type, along with general hardware, items such as lumber and concrete are also readily available on the island.
Some shop only locally while others make periodic trips to the mainland for a ‘Costco Run.’ Local businesses do their best to be competitive for your business. Most services are available on Orcas Island or from companies that serve the San Juan Islands.
 The Orcas Island Chamber of Commerce has information on many island businesses and is a great resource for both locals and visitors.
We are connected and wired to the outside world…DirecTV and Dish Satellite TV are available, DSL internet service is available from a variety of providers and everything you buy on TV or the internet can be delivered via FedEx or UPS.
